2010 Workshop Schedule
Somatic Patterns of Stress and Trauma
Sunday Jan 17th, 2010, 9:30am – 5:30pm
6 CEs for MFTs, LCSWs and Psychologists.
Rosen Center, 825 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA
**New: Now Offering CEs for Psychologists**
This experiential workshop focuses on deepening tracking and accessing skills. It is designed to be a practical complement to the previous stress continuum workshop. Specific focus will be on recognizing somatic patterns that reflect underlying stress organization. These skills are very useful for the therapist in accessing core psycho-physical issues associated with developmental and traumatic wounding. Focus will also be given to recognizing missing somatic resources that when introduced can support a client in reorganizing towards greater health and well-being.
Developmental and traumatic stress response patterns and related resources primarily support a person in surviving. They become restrictive rather than supportive of creative options and possibilities. Re-establishing creative somatic resources and reprocessing limiting psycho-emotional material helps support characterological transformation. When there are traumatic stress organizational patterns somatic resources help in processing and completing the high levels of autonomic arousal that have been physically contained as a result of traumatic events. These resources help in the rebuilding of an empowered, felt sense of self and a greater capacity for self-regulation.
This skill building workshop will be useful for both experienced and new therapists wishing to have greater skill in reading and utilizing the wealth of information revealed by the body.
$135 tuition if paid in full by Dec 15th, 2009, $155 thereafter
